Firefighters monitor recycling blaze in Marietta

Posted: Updated:

MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) - Firefighters were monitoring a recycling yard near Marietta after a blaze sent smoke billowing.

According to a spokesperson for the Marietta Fire Department, the fire apparently started Saturday near a conveyor belt at Marietta Recycling, about two miles north of Marietta Square.

Firefighters say they are not sure what started the fire. The complex had been closed for the holiday weekend.

Authorities expected to spend the night at the facility to make sure there were no flare ups.
