Mother calls for answers in daughter’s murder

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -

It's been two weeks since a woman was shot and killed inside her DeKalb County home and her family is asking anyone with information to come forward.

DeKalb County Police say Tiffany Stephens, 23, was found shot on Flat Shoals Road at an apartment complex just before 11:00 p.m. in early August. Authorities say she was shot multiple times.

Nadine Roberts, Stephens' mother, spoke with FOX 5 via Skype on Thursday from her home in New York. Roberts says it has been two weeks of torture.

“Every morning I wake up, the same thing plays in my head. It starts over and over again,” said Roberts.

Detectives say they have some leads, but no arrests have been made.

The family tells FOX 5 they will not find peace until they understand what happened to their daughter.

“Why did someone do this? What did my daughter do to anyone that would make them do this to her? We need to know why this happened,” said Roberts.

Stephens moved to Atlanta about two years ago. Roberts says her daughter fell in love with the South.

Stephens worked for a local eatery, but remained in close contact with her parents in the North. They say not being able to reach her and not knowing what happened in the moments before her death keeps them awake at night.

“It was the worst feeling in the world,” said Roberts.
