A family is furious over a plea deal in the murder case of their daughter.

Henry County police say Brian Mack Feltman, of Locust Grove, hit his live-in girlfriend, 27-year-old Meghann Pope on Golf View Crossing in Locust Grove in 2012. Pope was four months pregnant at the time of the incident. The two lived together a short ways away from the scene inside the same subdivision.

Feltman was charged with felony murder, vehicular homicide, leaving the scene of an accident and feticide.

After presenting evidence for the last week, District Attorney Jim Wright agreed to a plea bargain, taking it out of the hands of the jury.

“The plea was 15 years, seven years to serve, eight on probation and we pleaded with him not to do that,” said Lawrence Pope, Meghann Pope's father.

Lawrence Pope tells FOX 5 Feltman, now 29, will be out of prison at age 36 and says after the plea bargain some jurors expressed disappointment.

“There were several jurors as well that were talked to that also indicated that they would not have found the defendant guilty of the felony murder charge,” said Jim Wright.

Wright says he agreed to allow Feltman to plead guilty to the lesser charges because the felony murder charge was based on circumstantial evidence.

The plea bargain came on the two year anniversary of Meghann Pope's death.

“There's no justice. It's a legal system, but no justice. It's note justice and it's certainly not blind,” said Lawrence Pope.
