Monroe chief to lead GA Assoc. of Chiefs of Police

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) - Monroe Police Chief Keith Glass has been named the new president of the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police.

The Athens Banner-Herald reports the appointment was announced during a recent conference in Savannah.

Glass has served as Monroe's chief of police since 2002 and was appointed by Gov. Nathan Deal to the Georgia Peace Officers Standards and Training Council.

Glass has worked in law enforcement in Georgia for more than 21 years. He also served with the Georgia Army National Guard, retiring as a command sergeant major.

The state association represents more than 1,000 members from municipal and county law enforcement agencies, college and university police departments and other groups.
