GRIFFIN, Ga. - Accused cop killer Michael Bowman remains behind bars Tuesday afternoon.

Superior Court Judge Christopher Edwards once again denied Bowman's bond request during a probable cause hearing at the Spalding County Courthouse. Bowman is charged with killing Griffin police officer Kevin Jordan last May.

Prosecutors say Jordan was working an off-duty security job at a Waffle House in Griffin the morning of May 31 when Bowman, his girlfriend Chantell Mixon and her brother Tyler Taylor caused a disturbance. Bowman reportedly shot the officer several times while he was on the ground, trying to handcuff a combative Mixon.

The officer's brother who was visiting him at the restaurant then shot Bowman, wounding him. Bowman and Mixon face felony murder charges.

Despite the defense's objections, the judge granted the prosecution's request for additional charged in the case. Bowman is now charged with malice murder, two counts felony murder, two counts aggravated assault, felony obstruction and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Bowman's loved ones were visibly upset at Tuesday's hearing and wouldn't speak to reporters as they left the courthouse.
