SWAT standoff ends in Henry Co. neighborhood

Posted: Updated:
MCDONOUGH, Ga. - Two people were briefly detained after a SWAT standoff that lasted nearly four hours in Henry County.

Henry County Police say they were called out to a home on Cobblestone Lane in McDonough after a report of a domestic disturbance incident.

Investigators say a female left the home and went to a local elementary school to call 911. They say the woman, and any children involved, are safe.

The SWAT team arrived at the home and attempted to make contact with the individuals inside. They ended up making entry and detaining the two men inside.

Officials with Henry County schools say Rock Springs Elementary School was placed on a soft lockdown during the school day due to the incident. They say there was never an immediate threat to the school. Buses were also held and are not allowed to go into the area.

Residents and school buses were allowed back into the neighborhood around 6 p.m.

No one was injured during the SWAT incident and police say no charges will be filed.
