Douglas Co. student arrested for bringing gun to school

LITHIA SPRINGS, Ga. - A Douglas County high school student was arrested on the first day back to school for bringing a gun onto campus.

Lt. Glenn Daniel with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office tells FOX 5 News that 17-year-old Joshua Colson was approached by a school resource officer at Lithia Springs High School around noon after officials there received a tip. School officials say the students did not make any threat.

The officer was able to secure the handgun and ammo within two minutes of school officials being informed. Colson was then placed under arrest.

No word on why the student brought the gun to school.

Colson, who is a student at the school, will be charged in the incident.
