Deal announces 'Go Back Move Ahead' campaign

Posted: Updated:

ATLANTA (AP) - Georgia is launching a campaign to get adults back in school who started but didn't finish their degrees.

The "Go Back Move Ahead" campaign launched on Tuesday. Leaders of Georgia's four-year university and technical college systems say nontraditional students are essential to meeting college completion goals and to filling jobs.

Education officials say by 2020 more than 60 percent of jobs in Georgia will require education beyond high school.

Each campus in the state university system and technical college system has assigned a liaison for returning students. They plan to emphasize flexible class schedules or help students find campus satellite locations and online options.

According to census data, about 1.1 million Georgians between 25 and 64 have some college credit, but no degree or certificate.
