Fallen tree causes flooding concerns in Roswell

Posted: Updated:

FOX 5 has received several emails and Facebook comments after airing the story Monday about a giant tree fallen causing a major inconvenience in Roswell.

People have reached out wanting to help Sandra Moltz who lives in the home where the tree came crashing down, damming a creek.

"Oh, I feel blessed. It's wonderful," said Moltz.

Maude Campbell with Clear Rose Recovery, a faith based disaster relief non-profit group, reached out to Moltz on Tuesday.

"I said if we can talk to the owners and see if we can work something out together, it would help our organization as well as help them," said Campbell.

Campbell says the group would reach out to a tree service, then accept donations to handle the cost. That's a lot different from $5,000 which is what the Moltz family thought they would have to pay to clean up the mess.

The tree fell from a neighbors yard and landed in a creek. Parts of the tree is still on the property. When the Moltz family called the city to clean it up, the city said they could not help.

"We care more about the big tree in the creek, the huge base of the tree. That's because that's going to stop up the creek," said Moltz.

Meantime, the Moltz' have to continue to look at the eyesore, hoping it wont rain anytime soon. But they appreciate how community members want to step in to help.

"That's wonderful that people care, it's nice to know that somebody cares," said Sandra Moltz.
