A Henry County boy is recovering in the burn unit at Grady Memorial Hospital after being struck by lightning.
The boy, 7-year-old Sebastian Cedeno, was struck in the groin area during a storm Wednesday night. According to his mother, Sebastian was inside their home at the time of the incident.
Sebastian’s grandmother mother Linda Brooks Blile says when the bolt hit him “he flew back and his sock was steaming.” She says the strike was so strong that it blew bricks off their home. The door, she says, was also blown off.
“He didn’t even cry. He kept saying he was okay” Sebastian’s mother Kara Rivers told FOX 5 News.
After the strike, Rivers says she placed Sebastian on the couch and called 911. She says he couldn’t move and then passed out for a few minutes.
Sebastian suffered minor burns in the incident and doctors are monitoring him for internal damage.
