Refund questions regarding Ross Harris fundraiser

Posted: Updated:

Shocking details in the case against Ross Harris have played a big role in destroying public support for the Cobb County man.

People rallied for Harris before the allegations surfaced that Harris sexted multiple women and that he had life insurance policies on his young son.

There were online petitions and money was donated to his defense.

Attorney Mark Campbell and law partner Max Changus showed FOX 5 the cached temporary file of a fundraising page for the Harris family.

The fundraising link has been removed from the website after details of sexting, internet searches and other details portraying Harris as living a double life emerged in court.

“The is the kind of case where public opinion is wavering and vacillating so much,” said Campbell who is an internet law expert.

A website representative tells FOX 5 payments to the Harris fund were made through portals “wepay” or “paypal.” The representative said the donor would have gotten a receipt for their donation and can contact that payment portal and request a refund if they wish.

Campbell says refunds, even if through those portals, would have to come from the person who set up the fund.

Campbell tells FOX 5 legally in a charitable situation like this, those who have had a change of heart and might want a refund must show fraud.
