Local restaurant hosts farewell breakfast for Baby Bou Bou

Posted: Updated:

The family of a toddler who was seriously injured during a drug raid will say “thank you” to the community for their support during a breakfast Wednesday morning.

Bounkham "Baby Bou Bou" Phonesavahn was asleep in his play pen when authorities threw a flash bang grenade into his Habersham County home in May. The flash bang detonated in 19-month-old Bou Bou’s crib leaving him severely injured. Since May, Bou Bou has undergone numerous surgeries and is now on the road to recovery.

However, his family wants to thank everyone for the outpouring of support they’ve reviewed along the way.

The Phonesavahn family will soon move back to Janesville, Wisconsin which is where they’re from. The family was only temporarily living in the Habersham County home because their home in Wisconsin had burned down. The family was scheduled to move back to Wisconsin the day before the botched raid.

The family says Bou Bou will continue his rehabilitation in Wisconsin.

Bou Bou’s mother Alecia Phonesavanh said, "Bou Bou has long way to go, he has suffered brain injury, still has damage to his chest and has lost his left nipple. After surviving his face and chest being blown open, his strength and fight for full recovery is keeping us hopeful. He is our miracle. Your prayers and support has helped our family during this difficult time.”

The breakfast will be held at Delightful Eatz Restaurant, which is located at 421 Edgewood Avenue in southeast Atlanta at 9 a.m.
