US head coach excuses fans from work for World Cup match

Posted: Updated:
Thursday, June 26, 2014 marks a huge day for soccer fans in the U.S. as our team takes on Germany in the World Cup.

Unfortunately for anyone who plans to watch, the match begins at 12 p.m. EST-- smack-dab in the middle of a normal workday.

Luckily, U.S. Head Coach Jürgen Klinsmann has everyone covered. He's provided fans with a letter for their bosses, excusing them from work, so as to allow for much-needed support during the "critical World Cup game."

The note reads as follows:

"To whom it may concern:

Please excuse [ blank ] from work on Thursday, June 26th.

I understand that this absence may reduce the productivity of your workplace, but I can assure you that it is for an important cause. The #USMNT has a critical World Cup game vs. Germany and we will need the full support of the nation if we are to advance to the next round.

By the way, you should like a good leader and take the day off as well. Go USA!

Jurgen Klinsmann
Head Coach
U.S. Men’s National Team"

Just like a doctor's note, or those pesky, mandatory jury duty summons, it's written on an official letter head, complete with the US Soccer logo.
