Teacher to make first appearance in burned toddler case

Posted: Updated:

The teacher arrested after a toddler was badly burned at a Clermont daycare will make her first appearance on Monday morning in a Hall County courtroom.

Eddye Pittmon, 55, was arrested at Discovering Basics daycare on Friday afternoon. She was transported to the Hall County jail and charged with one count of Child Cruelty.

Pittmon's arrest comes after Megan Seablot discovered a large swollen wound on her son's leg. Seabolt says officials at the daycare claimed her son had an adverse reaction to "bug bites."

Seabolt later determined the supposed "bug bites" were second and third degree burns. Discovering Basics daycare has been shut down as a result of an emergency state order.

Authorities are still investigating this incident. More arrests are expected.
