MCDONOUGH, Ga. (AP) - Authorities plan to quarantine a Henry County neighborhood after a rash of rabies cases.

A ninth case of rabies was recently found in Henry County. An alert and 31-day quarantine are set to start Monday in a McDonough neighborhood.

Several rabid raccoons were found in the county several months ago, then there were three rabid foxes that attacked people and pets and now another raccoon.

Vince Farah of Henry County Animal Control tells the television station the number of cases is alarming since he generally sees an average of four or five cases a year and he's already seen about twice that this year.

Residents are asked to get their pets vaccinated again for rabies and to keep an eye out for wild animals acting strangely.
