Man arrested after Sandy Springs standoff

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. -

Sandy Springs police have arrested a man after a five hour standoff.

It happened on the 4700 block of Woodbine Court around midnight.

According to police, the armed man threatened his mother with a taser and then barricaded himself in the home. His mother was not injured in this situation.

The man, identified as Edward Quenzer, had been displaying symptoms of schizophrenia and paranoia, according to his mother.

Quenzer was removed from the home, without incident, by SWAT team members. He was transported to Grady Memorial for mental evaluation.
