Self-Taught Filmmaker Tackles The Dark Side Of Life

Posted: Updated:

Most people think it takes years of film school to become a successful motion picture director. But an Atlanta woman is creating her own, unique journey to filmmaking and it all started at the library.

Carla Saunders founded Promises Entertainment in 2008; according to her company's Facebook page, "The Atlanta based film company endeavors to develop screenplays and produce feature length Horror films for American and International audiences."

Saunders has spent the past several years self-funding "teaser trailers" for the movies she hopes to one day make, and her skills behind the camera all come from days spent studying film at local libraries.

After teaching herself the "tricks of the trade," Saunders wrote and produced "Triste," a short film that will premiere June 14th.
