MARTA service interruption causes major backup

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA, Ga. - A MARTA rail service interruption caused major backups at a Midtown train station Tuesday morning.

According to a representative from MARTA, rail service shuttered around 7:20 a.m. and many customers were stranded on the platform at the Lindbergh Center station until service was restored.

MARTA spokesperson Lyle Harris released a statement, saying:

"Rail service has been restored on the North Springs Line between Lindbergh Center and Medical Center stations in both directions after an electrical problem that occurred at 7:20 a.m. caused interruptions that lasted about 40 minutes. The bus bridge that had been established between those two stations to shuttle customers to their destinations has been canceled and normal weekday rail service has resumed. We regret any inconvenience this may have caused for our customers. "
