"Call for Action" Success: Viewer Gets Nearly $20,000 Back

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

Can you imagine handing over thousands of dollars to a used car dealer then driving off in a car that doesn't work? Well, you are about to meet a woman who that happened to - twice in just a few days time.

Taletha Banks was distraught until she made a call to "Call for Action."  She says she paid nearly $20,000 to a used car dealership only to have both cars break down.

Here's what happened: She admits looking online at cars tempted her to go to a used car lot to check out a beautiful luxury car.

"I loved it. I loved it. It was a beauty," Taletha Banks said.

Maybe on the outside. The inside, she recalls, was a beast.

"Actually, I got home and the car just started to go crazy. A lot of electrical problems and a lot of other problems. So, I called and had some discussion with the car dealership we were able to, they allowed me to bring the car back."

For a trade in and a little more money she got car number two.

"Not even two blocks away there was a transmission fault that came on, and the car refused to drive," she said.

Ms. Banks says she didn't get her money back this time or another car. What she says she got was very frustrated.

"I just thought, like, no, this can't be happening. I can't just let this happen. This is crazy, then I found you guys and I fought back. I fought back. It's the best thing that could have happened to me."

She contacted "Call for Action" our all-volunteer group that comes in on their own time to help viewers sort out problems - just like Taletha's - that they can't fix on her own.

She said, "Who comes in to give their time to help people in that way?"

The folks at "Call for Action" do and they got Taletha Banks back nearly $20,000 from the used car dealership. Grinning

from ear to year she said, "Every dime I gave them to them I was able to get back. It was wonderful. That just doesn't happen."

We already know about some of the fees our banks charge -- the monthly fee, the overdraft charge, out-of-network and minimum balance fees. That's standard stuff. But did you know that the average checking account has 30 fees attached?
