Wednesday kicked off a special 4-day event for teenagers who have won their battle against cancer and for those still facing the fight.
‘Red Carpet Day’ was held at Stone Mountain Park on Wednesday to give teens a chance to forget about their illness.
Savannah Solomon, 28, is the woman behind the event. Solomon was diagnosed with a rare type of cancer at the age of 11. She started the event with some friends when she was 16-years-old.
“I wanted a place where my friends and I from the hospital could feel normal without being poked and just be teenagers because there is enough to figure out at that point in life,” said Solomon.
Solomon is cancer free and enjoys being able to give back.
The event continues with a field day, spa day and weekend on Lake Lanier Island.
