Man sentenced after Peanut Butter Cup murder

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. - A Clayton County judge sentenced an inmate to life in prison for killing his cell mate over a chocolate candy. 

The inmate, William Brooks, killed Kenneth Robert Gronchowski, 57, at the Clayton County Jail during a fight over a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup.

According to officials, Gronchowski was eating a peanut butter cup and Brooks wanted the other cup. When the inmate refused to share they engaged in a fight.

Brooks began to punch the other inmate in the throat and face several times. He then slammed the inmate's face on the toilet and attempted to drown him. Gronchowski later died.

Brooks was sentenced to life in prison with parole.
