ATLANTA (AP) - Republicans in Georgia's feisty Senate race are outlining their positions on key issues ranging from immigration to tackling the nation's debt, just days before their nationally watched primary.

The seven GOP candidates met Saturday in a debate hosted by WSB-TV in Atlanta. Leading GOP contenders are Reps. Paul Broun, Phil Gingrey and Jack Kingston, along with former Secretary of State Karen Handel and former Dollar General CEO David Perdue.

The candidates were asked whether they would back Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. Handel and Perdue said they would not, while the three congressmen would not commit either way.

Republicans need to gain six seats in November's election to win control of the Senate and can't afford to lose the one retiring GOP Sen. Saxby Chambliss now holds.
