KENNESAW, Ga. (AP) - A new exhibit at a museum in Kennesaw showcases a collection of a Civil War soldier's letters and other artifacts from the war.

The Marietta Daily Journal reports the Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History's special 1864 exhibit features letters written by George Hudson, of the 36th Georgia regiment, which was based in Decatur.

Museum curator Jonathan Scott says Hudson's letters to his wife and relatives highlight his fear of dying in the war, being homesick and how much money the army would owe his wife if he died in the war.

Scott says the exhibit also includes a snare drum and a sling used by Jesse Thornburgh, of the 39th Iowa regiment.
