DALTON, Ga. -
An engaged couple was on their way to their wedding Monday night when a car crash left their wedding story in tragedy.
Brittany Huber, 25, and John Redman, 23, were excited about spending the rest of their lives together. The engaged couple left to drive to their wedding in Mobile, Alabama Monday night.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, Redman lost control of the vehicle and hit a bridge. The crash killed Huber and sent Redman to the hospital where he is still recovering.
Huber’s coworkers at City Park Elementary School said that they are shocked and saddened by the news.
“She shared a lot with her colleagues and staff and everyone was just so excited for her to get married and start that journey in life,” said City Park Elementary School Principal Rick Little.
Hubber worked with Kindergarten students at a Dalton elementary school. Hubber was hearing impaired but never let her disability get in the way. Now the school and city mourns their teacher and prays for the groom's recovery.
"Brittany was just an incredible young lady, she had only been with us a short period of time started her in November as a Parapro but had an infectious smile but was wonderful with the children,” said Little.
Redman is a basketball coach at Dalton State College and has received tremendous support from his athletic department.
"This has been difficult for us as an athletic department but one of the nice things is that hopefully both families are realizing what an impact two people can have on a community that have only been there less than a year,” said Dalton State Athletic Director Derek Waugh.
