Local swim coach suspended

Posted: Updated:
CUMMING, Ga. -

A local swim coach has been suspended for having an inappropriate relationship with a teenager.

Chattahooche Gold, a year-round swim team, was recently rocked by the revelation of the relationship that happened a year and a half ago.

Neil Savage was the Head Site Coach for Chattahoochee Gold at the Cumming Aquatic Center. In a letter to the team, Savage confessed he had a relationship with a swimmer who was a high school senior.  In the letter, Savage said his guilt and embarrassment, is nothing compared to the "distress" he has caused the team.

Swimmers on the team say they think Savage is being punished too harshly but they understand the rules and regulations that go along with being an authority figure. Parents at the center think the coach should have been more responsible around their children.

Savage could be banned from the USA Swimming organization. An investigation is ongoing.
