Authorities ID suspect in Union City police chase crash

FAIRBURN, Ga. -

Fairburn Police have identified the suspect in an early morning police chase and crash that left one woman seriously injured.

The suspect, 43-year-old Alan Richardson, now has warrants from Fairburn PD for Driving While License Suspended, Reckless Driving, Fleeing / Attempting to Elude Police, and additional minor traffic offenses. Officials say Richardson's license has been suspended eight times.

The accident happened as a result of a police pursuit around 9:30 p.m. 

According to officials, Richardson was fleeing from a traffic stop on Highway 138, at a high rate of speed, when it struck an SUV and then into the MARTA bus.

Several pedestrians were injured, at the bus stop, and one woman was transported to Grady in serious condition. The other injured pedestrians received care on the scene.

Authorities say Richardson was driving the vehicle and that he fled the scene and is still at-large. The two other occupants in the vehicle were cooperative with authorities.

Union City PD is is seeking charges against the driver.

Richardson was previously wanted by Fulton County for Sexual Battery and Public Peace charges.
