Local man running Boston Marathon for a cause

GRIFFIN, Ga. -

A Griffin man is making the news for a monumental run he's about to make.

David Dodd helps run a non-profit group called Impact Racing Ministries. They mentor local youth and encourage them to stay out of gangs, off the street and out of trouble.

Dodd actually ran the Boston marathon last year as a VIP runner. He was one of the runners who did not finish due to the horrific events at the finish of the race. He was actually close enough that he received a certificate of completion because he was so close.

This year he has been invited to go back and run as a VIP. Part of doing this run is to raise money for a cause. David has chosen his cause for this year -- a 15-year-old girl with Grade 4 Glioblastoma named Callie Evans.

Glioblastoma is another name for a rare, aggressive inoperable and malignant brain tumor. Glioblastoma cells reproduce quickly and they're highly malignant.

Callie had volunteered several times at the Impact Racing Ministries building in Griffin and met David before she was diagnosed. She even has a Facebook update page "Praying for Callie Evans". David had made Callie an honorary member of his team and is running for her here locally and in Boston.
