ATLANTA (AP) - Several events are planned at the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site in Atlanta to mark the annual observance of King Remembrance Week.

A special wreath-laying ceremony is planned for 5:30 p.m. on April 4 in the sanctuary of Historic Ebenezer Baptist Church. The ceremony begins several public activities that continue through April 9.

King was killed on April 4, 1968 at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, and his funeral was held in Atlanta on April 9, 1968. This year marks the 46th anniversary of his death.

The National Park Service said all events during the remembrance week are free of charge and open to the public.
