Hall County confirms 2nd rabies case this year

GAINESVILLE, Ga. -

Officials in Hall County have confirmed their second rabies case this year.

The Georgia Public Health Lab Virology Section in Decatur has confirmed that a raccoon found in the Bridge Drive area of north Hall County had the disease.

Officials believe the raccoon may have come in contact with domesticated animal.

Anyone in the area who spots any animals acting suspiciously is encouraged to call Hall County Animal Services at 770-531-6830 or call Hall County Dispatch at 770-536-8812 during non-working hours.

Vaccinations for pets are available at the Hall County Animal Shelter located at 1688 Barber Road in Gainesville for $10 Tuesday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
