Emory to host reading, signing by author Prentiss

ATLANTA (AP) - Emory University is set to host a book reading and signing by the author of a book on religion in plays written by African-Americans between 1915 and 1940.

Craig R. Prentiss author of "Staging Faith: Religion and African American Theater from the Harlem Renaissance to World War II" will be at the school's library on Feb. 25.

Prentiss is a professor of religious studies at Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Mo. In the book, he discusses nearly 40 plays, most of which are obscure and unpublished and many of which were performed in community centers and churches

While working on the book he did research in the Camille Billops and James V. Hatch archive of African American visual and performing arts collections in Emory's Manuscript, Archives, and Rare Book Library.
