Ga. revenues in January total nearly $1.81 billion

Posted: Updated:

ATLANTA (AP) - A report shows the state of Georgia's revenues totaled nearly $1.81 billion in January, an increase of 4.4 percent over the same month a year ago.

The office of Gov. Nathan Deal said Friday that individual income tax collections were up while corporate tax collections decreased.

Meanwhile, the year-to-date net tax revenue collections total $10.9 billion. That's an increase of 5 percent over year.

Deal's office says tax reforms including the elimination of the auto sales tax and a reduction in the sales tax on energy used in manufacturing have had a significant effect on Georgia's tax structure. The changes are influencing current month and year-to-date revenue collections.

Officials say gross sales tax collections are down because of legislation replacing the auto sales tax with a one-time title tax.
