Rain, snowflakes possible in some areas

Posted: Updated:

From the FOX 5 Storm Team:

Here's our set up through the afternoon and evening: We're going to be monitoring a fast moving weather system that could bring light rain that could briefly changeover to flurries this evening. Most of the precipitation we've seen on radar out west has evaporated before hitting the ground, so the drier air is keeping most of it from reaching roadways. You can expect, though, in some areas to see some light showers briefly mixed with wintry precipitation.

Most of us don't see anything precip-wise this evening. Better chance for precip likely in south metro with colder air north metro. So, again, once the precip moves in we're not going to see much as far as road issues initially. The worry is what will happen to area roads later this evening as the freezing temps rush back in? The hope is that the precip we do see will be very light and will evaporate quickly, and the hope is that at most we see just a few spots with icy patches overnight. Stay tuned to FOX 5 this evening – Ken Cook will be tracking where the precipitation is, and be sure to wake up with Good Day Atlanta tomorrow as Joanne Feldman tracks the temperatures and Katy Beasley keeps an eye on icy spots on roads.
