AG finishes review over Hall County agendas

Posted: Updated:

GAINESVILLE, Ga. (AP) - The attorney general's office will be monitoring Hall County commissioners after complaints that they make formal decisions on issues that do not appear on their meeting agendas.

Attorney General Sam Olens' office said the commission did not commit any enforceable violations of Georgia's open meetings laws. However, Olens' office said it will continue monitoring the commission's actions.

The Times of Gainesville reported in October that the commission took action on five items that did not appear on agendas ahead of meetings. Those items included issues related to the structure of the library system and a suspension of negotiations over sewer service.

County attorney Bill Blalock told the attorney general's office that no rules were broken. He said the items in question were not required to be on the agenda.
