Remains found in Georgia park identified

Posted: Updated:

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (AP) - Hall County sheriff's officials say they've identified a set of human remains that were found wrapped in a blanket in a park bathroom.

Sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Mark Mitchell says the remains of 21-year-old Kayla Weil were found in a bathroom at Chestnut Ridge Park in Flowery Branch Oct. 24. Authorities have said workers cleaning the park found the woman's remains inside one of the bathrooms.

Mitchell says Weil was reported missing by relatives in September 2013 and the park was closed to the public several years ago.

Mitchell says the remains appeared to have been in the park for an extended time period.

Details on the woman's cause of death weren't immediately available, and Mitchell says the woman's death remains under investigation.
