UGA awards social work and public health master's

Posted: Updated:

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) - The University of Georgia has awarded its first dual master's degrees in social work and public health.

The social work and public health dual degree program was established in 2011. It is a partnership between the School of Social Work and the College of Public Health and is the first of its kind in the state.

Five students were the first to receive the dual degrees at commencement ceremonies Friday.

The school says the UGA program is unique in that students can fulfill their social work and public health field placement requirements at the same agency.

The dual degree is open to graduate students accepted into both the full-time clinical concentration at the School of Social Work and the health promotion and behavior concentration at the College of Public Health.
