ATHENS, Ga. -

The body of a 22-year-old woman was found in a creek on The Plaza in Athens on Tuesday. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said that she was not a victim of foul play, but more tests must be done to determine the cause of death.

Authorities identified the woman as Rebecca Elaine Greene. She had been reported missing on Monday. Athens-County police said she was from Brunswick and was a chemistry major at the University of Georgia.

Police said the last contact anyone had with Greene was around 5:30 p.m. when her boyfriend talked about meeting her on campus.

Greene never showed up to that meeting. Her boyfriend went door to door Tuesday morning in search of her.

Police tracked Greene's cell phone to an area not far from where she lived, where they found her body around 9:30 a.m. A pink bicycle, reportedly Greene's, was near the body.

After an autopsy was performed, a GBI medical examiner said that the death was not a homicide, and that here was no one else involved.

Additional tests will be done to determine if she died in an accident or if it was suicide.
