DeKalb police invite public comment

Posted: Updated:

TUCKER, Ga. (AP) - Members of the community are invited to offer comments for an evaluation of the DeKalb County Police Department.

A team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies will arrive Sunday to examine the department's policy and procedures, management, operations, and support services.

Chief Cedric Alexander says verification by the team is part of a voluntary process to gain reaccreditation.

As part of the assessment department personnel and members of the community can offer comments at a public information session Monday at 6 p.m. at the Derwin Brown Memorial South Precinct. Anyone who can't attend can do so by telephone between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Monday or they can write to CALEA.
