A birthday wish came true on Thursday for a young boy battling brain cancer. JaKorey Moore has been in and out of the hospital for the last several months. All he wanted on his 8th birthday was to be home.

Back in March, JaKorey was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Doctors removed the golf ball-sized tumor from the back of his head.

Now, too weak to go to school, JaKorey's days are filled with radiation, chemotherapy and blood work. But his mom says the family is hanging in there.

"It has been a journey. It's not easy," said Markeya Moore."I won't tell you it's easy trying to deal with four kids -- three well kids and one sick.  It is the absolute worst, but we can't give up."

The boy was happy that Scottish Rite nurses sang to him and surprised him with a remote control car on his birthday, but he was really excited to be out of the hospital.

"I miss my brother and sisters," JaKorey said.

JaKorey told his family that he wanted his first stop to be at a place most kids would like to avoid: school.

"I want to see my friends. I want to see my teacher," JaKorey said.

The Henry County second grader is a fighter and has vowed he's going to get the best of this disease.

"I hope to get all this done with," he said.

JaKorey will have to return to the hospital on Monday for some blood work.
