VILLA RICA, Ga. -

One of the suspects accused in the murder of a Villa Rica jewelry store owner appeared in court on Friday.

Raphael Rucker, 23, is accused in the murder of 45-year-old Mitch Mobley at the popular Mobley Jewelry Company.  Police say Rucker and four other suspects were involved in the armed robbery of the jewelry store on Wednesday. Authorities believe Mobley, who had a gun, was killed as he tried to defend his store. Rucker was arrested on Thursday.

As he made his court appearance on Thursday, Rucker repeatedly flashed obscene gestures to FOX 5's camera.

Authorities arrested 16-year-old Eric Billings a short time after the shooting. Police believe Billings was the trigger man in the murder.

FOX 5 has learned Rucker has an extensive criminal history in Fulton County dating back to 2007, when he was charged with aggravated assault with intent to rob, armed robbery, participation with street gang and other charges.

In 2011, Rucker was charged with receiving a stolen car. He was arrested again in August 2012. Three months after that, he was picked up and charged with possession of crack cocaine. Then in April of this year, he was arrested driving without a license and giving a false name.  On June 5, Rucker was arrested for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm.

Rucker was denied bond on Friday. His preliminary hearing is set for August 2.

A police warrant says that authorities executed a search warrant for Rucker's DNA. Police are looking into the possibility that the Mobley Jewelry robbery was gang related.

Police are still searching for three other suspects in the robbery.
