PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. -

The tragedy at an Ohio air show where a wing walker and her pilot were killed in a crash is hitting some in metro Atlanta hard.

The two victims were scheduled to appear at the Great Georgia Air Show in Peachtree City in October and organizers of the event say they were looking forward to seeing their act.

Pilot Charlie Schwenker, 64, and wing walker Jane Wicker, 44, were killed on Saturday in a fiery plane crash caught on video and witnessed by thousands.

Wicker is known for her daring moves untethered atop a biplane that can reach speeds of 130 mph. Those who knew her say she was very engaging and excited about life not to mention her career choice. They were considered rising stars in the air show circuit.

Retired Col. Angie Faulise, the director of the Great Georgia Air Show, tells FOX 5 News that the two had talked this past December about their stop in Peachtree City and that she seemed excited to be premiering her nighttime performance at Atlanta Regional Airport.

No one on the ground at the Vectren Air Show was injured despite the crash.

Col. Faulise says safety at air shows and in particular, spectator safety is always top priority. She says it is something on which the Great Georgia Air Show prides itself.

Plans for any remembrances for Wicker and Schwenker at the air show in Peachtree City have not yet been formalized.
