City fills in giant hole in street after FOX 5 report

ATLANTA -

An Atlanta grandmother complained about a dangerous, gaping hole left in the ground on her property. Now, it's finally getting the attention it deserves. This, after Alma Clark told her story to FOX 5 News.

Clark says the City of Atlanta Water Department dug a hole for sewer work at her property along Elizabeth Avenue about a month ago. But, the city workers never finished that job. Clark says the abandoned hole soon had her concerned about the safety of her grandchildren playing near her home.

A day after FOX 5 News aired Clark's story, the City of Atlanta showed up at her home to fill in the hole.

Atlanta City Councilman Michael Bond said the problem never should have happened.

"They said, ‘Well, we opened the hole, but we haven't been back because it's not a priority.' Well, if it's not priority, then you shouldn't have opened the hole."
