Computer problem causes delay at Ga. license offices

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. -

Computer problems plagued Georgia's Department of Driver Services on Monday. Hundreds of customers trying to renew their licenses were turned away at the more than 60 offices statewide.

Tolando Pittman said he was frustrated to learn of the outages at the Gwinnett County office. He said he's been working to get his commercial driver's license for about two years.

"At the time I didn't know the system was down.  I started to see people walking away, that's when I started getting the word the system was down," Pittman said.

The computer glitch meant they could not accept any payment for services for about two hours.

Jacksonville University graduate student Kaitlyn Dietz was among those trying to renew her license on Tuesday. The computers were down on both of her attempts.

For customers who did not get a chance to renew their licenses, the Department of Driver Services is open Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon.
