NORCROSS, Ga. -
One person was killed and another injured after a train struck a pickup
truck and a minivan at a railroad crossing in Gwinnett County .
The
accident occurred on Amiwiler Road near the intersection of Buford
Highway, according to Gwinnett County police spokesman Jeff Richter.
Investigators said that the two vehicles had collided with each other
and couldn't get out of the way before the train hit.
"There was
an accident that occurred between two vehicles, between a van and a
pickup truck on the railroad tracks, and subsequently, the train coming
down the tracks was unable to stop prior to striking the two vehicles,"
Richter said.
Police are still investigating what led to the
original accident and how much time there was between the first crash
and the train rolling through.
The victim who survived reported suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
