
The city of Atlanta's top educator says the district continues to work on plans to upgrade security.
Superintendent Erroll Davis says it's been a topic of discussion for more than a year now.
The recent school shootings at Price Middle School and Grady High School have put a spotlight on the issue.
Davis says the school system is looking toward full-time school resource officers who can work to diffuse situations before they turn violent.
Also on Monday, the school board voted to keep the year-round and a modified traditional calendar after failing to reach a consensus on a single school calendar.
