College Park officer honored

Posted: Updated:
COLLEGE PARK, Ga. -

City leaders in College Park honored an officer on Monday for going beyond the call of duty.

Officer Bernice Papius was transporting an inmate to the Fulton County Jail when she stopped to apprehend a suspect holding someone against their will.

The man was wanted for a murder in Atlanta.

Atlanta police thanked Officer Papius for her quick-thinking to take the fugitive into custody.

Papius has been on the force for less than two years and says she was simply doing her job.

The College Park City Council declared March 4 "Bernice Papius Day."
