Should Atlanta host the Olympics again?

Posted: Updated:

The United States Olympic Committee has sent letters to 35 cities, including Atlanta, about bidding to host the 2024 Summer Games.

USOC sent letters to the mayors of the cities to gauge their interest.

Other cities contacted include New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, and St. Louis. The United States has not hosted the Summer Games since Atlanta in 1996, according to the Associated Press.

The report says USOC officials may consider putting out a bid for the 2026 Winter Olympics. Salt Lake City was U.S. city to host the Winter Games in 2002.

The letter also reminded the mayors of the huge undertaking that is required to host the games.

OUR GOOD DAY HOT TOPIC QUESTION: Would the IOC consider Atlanta, and would we even want to host the Olympics again? Post your comments on our FOX 5 Atlanta Facebook page, or tweet us @GoodDayAtlanta.
