ATLANTA -

Parts of north Georgia saw a wintry mix as a cold front pushed through the area on Tuesday. Several FOX 5 viewers have reported sleet or snow accumulating in some areas.

FOX 5 Storm Team meteorologist Joanne Feldman says the cold temperatures in the higher elevations will only support frozen precipitation for a couple of hours, and then it will be warm enough to change over to all rain after sunrise.

The start of school has been delayed for 2 hours in Towns County, and 3 hours in Union County. For closing updates, click here!

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Rabun County until 10 a.m., and the area could see up to 2 inches of snow. The National Weather Service says there could be brief icy spots on the roads, especially on bridges in that area.

Feldman says a the same cold front is bringing rain for the metro area. The area should see the heaviest rain between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m., and should be out of the area by noon.
