ATLANTA (AP) - U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder called last week's shootings at Price Middle School and Morehouse College shocking and outrageous, and said they are reminders that gun violence is a pervasive epidemic.
Holder spoke out against gun violence Thursday morning during a discussion and moderated question and answer session, at Clark Atlanta University.
The university hosted Holder to discuss voting, civil rights and other issues during its inaugural president's lecture series in Haven-Warren Hall.
Holder told the audience of mostly students the government is trying to strike a balance between advocating for tougher gun regulations while preserving the rights of citizens.
He said government leaders are pushing for a common-sense approach to keeping deadly weapons from falling into the wrong hands.
