PHILADELPHIA -

A blast of cold air is heading our way with temperatures expected to drop into the 20s and into the teens by midweek.

FOX 29 Chief Meteorologist Scott Williams says by Monday night, a dusting of snow is expected to fall in the Philadelphia area. No accumulation is expected, however.

Around 7 p.m., light snow began to fall in areas of Philadelphia and northwest of the city.

Just before 9 p.m. Monday night, PennDOT announced it had closed US 202 northbound at Chesterbrook Boulevard to Devon Park Drive due to weather.

By Tuesday, the cold air will be felt, as temperatures could drop into the teens.

By the end of the week, a storm system is expected to reach our area, which could bring with it a wintry mix.

On Sunday, several counties in our area issued cold weather emergency alerts based on the temperatures expected for this week.
