Fire crews check homes for smoke detectors in Conyers

CONYERS, Ga. -
Rockdale County firefighters took part in a smoke detector blitz on Thursday. Fire crews went door to door in the neighborhood where four young children died last week in a deadly fire inside a duplex.
The crew checked homes for smoke detectors and installed new ones or replaced batteries at homes with them.
Last Tuesday, four young children died when they were trapped in their beds by flames. Days after the deadly fire, investigators ruled it was caused by a surviving child playing with a lighter.
The children's mother suffered serious burns in the fire.
